Roblox, one of the world’s most popular online gaming platforms, has announced significant changes to enhance safety for its younger users. Starting from November 2024, children under 13 will no longer be able to send direct messages (DMs) to other players without parental consent. These updates are part of a broader effort to create a safer gaming environment for kids, with full implementation expected by March 2025.

Of course, if you don't officially own Roblox Robux, we recommend you to Buy Roblox Robux, because Buy Cheap Roblox Robux at Z2U.COM is convenient, with millions of real players' feedback, a complete refund policy, and 24/7 online customer service to help you solve various problems during the transaction!

New Restrictions on Messaging
Under the new rules, children under 13 will be blocked by default from sending private messages within Roblox games. Parents or guardians will need to verify their identity and grant permission for their child to access direct messaging features.

Young players will still be able to participate in public in-game chats, allowing them to communicate with friends in shared spaces visible to all participants. This ensures that social interaction remains possible while minimizing risks associated with private conversations.

Parental Controls Enhanced
Roblox is also introducing enhanced parental control features to give families more oversight. These include:

Activity Monitoring: Parents can view their child’s list of friends and account activity.
Playtime Limits: Daily time restrictions can now be set to ensure balanced gaming habits.
Verified Accounts: Parents must use government-issued ID or a credit card to verify their accounts and enable these features for their child.
These changes aim to empower parents to take an active role in their child’s Roblox experience while safeguarding against potential risks.

The Broader Context
According to research by Ofcom, Roblox is the most popular gaming platform among eight to 12-year-olds in the UK. While its popularity continues to grow, so do concerns about safety, prompting calls for stricter measures to protect young users.

Matt Kaufman, Roblox’s chief safety officer, highlighted the company’s dedication to user safety, noting that over 10% of its workforce focuses on implementing safety features. “As our platform has grown in scale, our approach to safety has evolved with it,” he said.

Reception and Challenges
The new measures have been welcomed by child safety advocates. Richard Collard, from the UK children’s charity NSPCC, called the updates “a positive step in the right direction.” However, he emphasized the importance of robust age verification to ensure these changes are effective.

Mr. Kaufman acknowledged the challenges of verifying user identity and urged parents to ensure children use their correct age when signing up.

Looking Ahead
With these changes, Roblox aims to create a safer and more transparent platform for its young audience. By giving parents greater control and limiting private interactions for younger players, the company seeks to reduce risks while maintaining the social and creative appeal of its games.
